Breastfeeding a newborn is a natural feeding process. For a first-time parent, it may seem a challenging work but you can adapt in no time. you will need the practice to learn about the breastfeeding position and latch.  The position is important because you and the baby will spend a long time every day.

How to breastfeed
For a baby the feeding reflexes stay natural. With the help of the mother and reflexes, they get the nursing process fast. This process starts at the moment when the baby and the mother stays connected skin to skin. Before going for first-time breastfeeding:
    Prepare yourself.

When a baby is born, then:
    Keep baby near to your skin and let her try.
    Observe when the baby needs the milk.
    Don’t force a baby to breastfeed. Let her tell you by crying.
    Feed your baby to produce more milk. Massage your breast during the feeding.
    You can use some support like towels or pillows while breastfeeding.

Best breastfeeding positions:
You will need time to get comfortable breastfeeding positions. You will have options, but it is you that have to decide which position is best for both of you. Let me introduce to some common breastfeeding positions. Pick the one that comforts you:

    Breastfeeding the baby by lying down. When you are in this position make sure you have good support on your back. Stay in the position like you are sitting on a recliner chair. Then expose your breast and place the baby on you and nurse.

    Breastfeeding upright position. In this position place the baby on a pillow on the side or on your arm. Then let the baby suck.

Let the baby learn a good latch:
A good latch while breastfeeding is important. The deeper the baby takes your nipple the best breastfeeding will be enjoyed by both of you. You have to guide your baby. By this, you will not face pain while breastfeeding and baby will get milk without air. This position creates a great bond between you.

Tips for breastfeeding:
    When you are nursing the baby, make sure your body will get good support.
    When the baby is born, your breast will get big and heavy. When you are breastfeeding the baby, support your breast.

    Support your baby when you are nursing the baby. Use arms, pillows or blanket when you are nursing.

    Feed the baby frequently or else you will experience painful clogged milk ducts.

    Stay relaxed when you are nursing your baby. Drink water or juice to stay hydrated while breastfeeding.
